DIY website builders vs a website done for you
Some trades build their own website on a builder made for trades; others have it done for them. This page compares two builders aimed at trades, TradeBolt and Hazcott, with our done-for-you packages, using what each business publishes.
Updated
How we compared
- We used each business's own public pages: pricing, how it works and terms. Nothing from reviews, forums or hearsay.
- Each row compares the same thing on both sides, such as the monthly price, a setup fee or a minimum term.
- Every figure shows the date we checked it and links to the page it came from.
- Where a business's public pages don't say, the row says Not stated. That isn't a guess either way.
- Prices and terms change, so check the source before you decide. If something here is out of date, email us and we'll correct it.
We couldn't find a public website for Hazcott when we checked on 29 October 2026, so every row in its column says Not stated. If it publishes its prices and terms, we'll add them.
Side by side
Our figures come from our live price list and our terms. TradeBolt's are as TradeBolt published them on the date shown.
Checked on . Each figure is as that business published it on that date, with a link to the page it came from; prices and terms can change, so check the source before you decide. Where a business's public pages don't say, the row says “Not stated”. Spotted something out of date? Email hello@modu-forge.co.uk and we'll correct it.

Building it yourself or having it built
With a builder, you choose the layout, write the words, add the photos and keep it up to date. You're in control of every change, and the cost is your time as well as the subscription.
Done for you, you send us your details, photos and the jobs you do, and we build it. Your monthly changes are made by us: one a month on Starter, two on Core, four on Plus.
Which might suit you
A DIY builder may suit you if
you enjoy building things on screen, have the evenings to spare, like to change your site the moment you think of something, and want to try it free before paying.
Done for you may suit you if
you'd rather spend your time on jobs, want online booking and an enquiry and booking pipeline set up for you, and want changes made without logging in.
Questions
Can I start with a DIY builder and switch later?
Yes. Keep your domain registered in your own name, so you can point it at a new site whenever you move, and keep copies of your words and photos.
Does TradeBolt have a free trial?
On the date shown, TradeBolt published a 14-day free trial with no card required. We don't offer a free trial; you see the full price before you pay anything, with no minimum term and no notice period.
Why is Hazcott in the comparison with no figures?
We included Hazcott as a website builder for trades, but we couldn't find a public website with its prices or terms when we checked, so its column says Not stated rather than a guess.
Who writes the words on a done-for-you site?
You tell us about your business, the jobs you do and the areas you cover, and we write it up and build it. You can ask for changes each month.
